Rawlins to Salt Lake City

The drive to Rawlins, Wyoming, brought a little sleet and snow along the way. We saw sparse herds of pronghorns off the interstate, and Susan spotted two mountain lions next to a lake.

We checked into a Holiday Inn Express, had a dip in the pool, and awoke to snowy conditions for breakfast the next morning.

As we drove I-80 west toward Salt Lake City, the weather turned great and we had a beautiful drive. The scenery heading into Salt Lake City was terrific with the snow-capped Wasatch Mountains providing the backdrop.

Got snowy on the way from Laramie to Rawlins.

Nice warm pool in low 40 degree weather.

JE loves to check out the breakfast bars in the HEX.

Snowy, cold Rawlins as we depart for Salt Lake.

Pretty country in western Wyoming and into Utah.

Wasatch Mountains provide a beautiful backdrop to Salt Lake City.

Holiday Inn Express in West Valley (outside Salt Lake City) had a great water park that we basically had to ourselves for two nights.

Next post ... Day 11 and 12 ... Salt Lake City and then onto Pocatello, Idaho ... with a stop at Promontory Point, Utah ... home of the Golden Spike!
